The Finance Department is primarily responsible for overseeing
the financial activities of the NBPA and its related entities,
player benefits and various special projects. As part of our
duties, we develop and monitor the yearly budget, prepare
the Association’s financial statements and modify policies
and procedures in order to maintain an adequate system of
internal controls.
In addition, this department manages all audits conducted
by independent auditors, which include the Association’s
annual review as well as audits of Basketball Related Income
(BRI), NBA Properties and the NBA teams. The Finance Department
also prepares and submits required financial information to
U.S. government agencies, such as the IRS and the Department
of Labor. Furthermore, the Department administers the distribution
of licensing revenue to players.
