TEAMS AND MATCHUPS ANNOUNCED FOR 2026 ‘THE THRONE’ HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT

Tournament to take place March 19-21 at American Dream in East Rutherford, New Jersey; All games to air on NBA TV and the NBA App 


NEW YORK (Feb. 26, 2026) -  The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) and Gold Level Sports and Entertainment (GLSE) today announced the eight boys’ and girls’ teams and matchups for The Throne, a single-elimination bracket-style tournament for the best high school basketball teams in the country, from March 19-21 at American Dream in East Rutherford, New Jersey. 

The NBPA Foundation will donate $50,000 total that will be split between the championship winning boys’ and girls’ team to support their respective athletic programs.  

The team rosters consist exclusively of students from the same high school, with teams competing under their respective club names. This year’s tournament will feature several NBPA Top 100 Camp alumni: Julius Avent (BC Crusaders), Cayden Daughtry (Eagles), Bryson Howard (Coyotes), Dylan Mingo (LuHi), Collin Paul (Eagles), and Tyran Stokes (Beach). Additionally, a number of nationally ranked players as well as two boys and two girls selected for the 2026 McDonald’s All-American Games will be participating.

The Throne was launched in 2023 by the NBPA and under the guidance of GLSE’s advisory board, which consists of several current and former NBA players including Harrison Barnes, Rudy Gay, Danny Green, Dwight Howard and NBPA President, Fred VanVleet.  The tournament features both elite competition and essential life-skills training in areas such as mental health and financial literacy, among others, to prepare the athletes for success on and off the court.
